The McMiller Sports Center is named after Harold A. McMiller (1921-1967), a Waukesha County park and planning director. Harold was recognized as an innovative conservationist and a true sportsman.
Our doors first opened to the public in 1978 and offered target shooting for 75 cents an hour. Changes have occurred throughout the years such as the addition of an archery range (1982) and expanding to offer the 300 yard range.
Today, McMiller is under the management of the Milford Hills Hunt Club.
Kirk Pauley grew up in Aberdeen South Dakota and is McMiller's new General Manager. A lifetime passion for hunting, management experience, and a bachelor's degree in finance from St. Cloud University makes Kirk the perfect man for the job. Kirk also brings a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to go the extra mile to the McMiller team.
Andy has 22 years of gunsmith experience and has advanced knowledge in cleaning, maintaining, customizing, and repairing firearms including pistols, rifles, muzzle loaders, and shotguns.
“Most of my work revolves around rebuilding and restoring broken firearms that need obsolete parts or restoration of some kind” explained Andy. “A typical work week may include general repair, fine checkering, engraving, accurizing, scope mounts, and making custom components like barrels or actions.”
Andy started his career in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. There, he apprenticed under two different master gunsmiths for a combined four years. It was also the location he opened his first shop.
“Over the years I’ve had a chance to work on some rare and unique firearms” enthused Andy. “Some of the Civil War firearms I worked on were appraised for over $60,000. It is a real privilege to work on a part of American history. But to be honest I enjoy all aspects of what I do; no job is too big or too small. Even though you may think your situation is unique I’ve probably already worked on something similar.”
With his latest move to Milford Hills Hunt Club Andy will continue to offer his services as one of the best gunsmiths in the area. As their resident gunsmith, Andy will also be involved with purchasing and selling used firearms.
